Analysing Conventions of Opening Sequences 1 - 'True Romance'
The first opening sequence I'm going to look at is for 'True Romance', a crime/romance film written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott.
The opening sequence for 'True Romance' includes the following:
- Production company logos
- Titles/credits including the name of the production company (Morgan Creek), the name of the director (Tony Scott), the names of the main stars and key members of the crew
- Introduces the main character/central protagonist Clarence, revealing his character traits which are important for the audience in understanding his actions/the plot later in the narrative (he is incapable of successfully chatting to women/he's a movie and music geek
- Introduces setting (Detroit)
