Analysing Conventions of Opening Sequences - Introduction

I am going to analyse the opening scenes of five films from different genres to see if there is a consistency to the conventions of opening scenes, regardless of genre.

The five films I am going to look at are:

'True Romance' - Crime/Romance

'Full Metal Jacket' - War

'Goodfellas' - Gangster

'Dumb and Dumber' - Comedy

'Psycho' - Horror
